I am using a laptop with a Broadcom Wifi card to connect to my neighbor's wireless network using a linksys wrt54g router. The connection will normally work fine. But sometimes, it will say it's connected, but will only send packets and does'nt receive any packets. If I ping the router it will only occassionally have a lost packet. I have tried using a static IP and DHCP. Neither seems to make a difference. The only thing thst seems to work is if I uninstall the Wifi adapter via XP device manager. I will sometimes have to do this around 5 times and then all of a sudden it will connect properly and receive packets.
Any ideas??

How far away is your PC from the router? You can't expect the signal to be 100% all the time no matter what. Uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter isn't what's making the connection work sometimes. That has nothing to do with it.

don2006, thanks for the prompt reply. My signal is always listed as very low, however I say the problem is not the signal strenght because the connection is able to send packets with no problem, with the router receiving them when I ping it. For some reason the laptop just is not able to receive packets.
