I recently purchased a new laptop running under windows xp pro.
I want to connect it to my desktop pc running also under windows xp pro via the NETWORK CARDS using a wire.
I want to be able to transfer my 20gbs of files on my desktop pc to my laptop.

do you have a hub? if not, use crossover cable.

I want to do exactly the same thing. I tried following xp user guide but lost my dial-up internet connection in the process and had to restore xp. I looked on above website but didn't find a step-by-step guide. Did you have any luck ?
