I have a Laptop that I use for school, and is part of a domain at school. At home, I have a work group, and my lappy is having a problem connecting. it connects to the router and the internet fine (i can go to 192.168.1.1, and access the internet) but i cannot get it to the other computers on the network. i seen the MSHOME on other computers in the network, but i only see PR** when i try on the lappy, when i should see both. i kno that this is confusing, but any help will be appreciated.
thanks

The internet is no longer a toy...it is a combat zone!!

First, on the Network computer (the one on the MSHOME Workgroup) there must be something shared in order for the "lappy"... lol...to see it and what can that User from Lappy can do with that share. Share, User with right to the share (who) and 'what' Privileges (rights) does User have.

Then that share must be shared to a user the home computer recognize. Permissions on that share, must allow that user to access it.

Example:
"My Music" folder on Home Computer "HomePC" = Folder to be Shared

Both, the "Lappy" & Home Computer, "HomePC" have a user named 'Bob'.

Folder "My Music" shared with 'Bob'

User 'Bob' on 'Lappy' has right to; Read, Write & Modify or Administrator (full control) Rights on Computer 'HomePC' to that particlar share.

Then ACCESS it.
If you share the "My Music" folder on "HomePC" go to; Start, Run, type: "\\HomePC\My Music" then press Enter.

It should ask for User Name and Password.
for user name, type: HomePC\Bob
then type Bob's Home PC Password and press Enter.

Or you can get Root Access to "HomePC" by going to Start, Run and typing:
\\HomePC\C$
When it asks you for the UserName and Password type in a UserName with Admin Rights on "HomePC" such as:
HomePC\Bob (if Bob has Admin Rights on HomePC)
Enter the password and then Bob on HomePC from Lappy has full control of HomePC.

Who knows, knows and who doesn't know, dosen't know jack!
El que sabe, sabe y el que no sabe, no sabe nada!
