Hi, I have an emachines 6805 laptop, and whenever i connect to the internet, the computer starts sending massive amounts of data, eating my bandwidth, which is a problem since i only have dialup. i tried running norton antivirus and adaware, both which had no effect. eventually, i backed up my files and reloaded windows xp, again accomplishing nothing. does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? thanks

Sounds like your "reload" was not a "clean install".

Do a clean install and see if you get better results. A "repair" will keep whatever it is you want to get rid of.

You might want to reexamine your conclusions as to why your dialup is slow.
