I bought a laptop and router and everything was going fine. I hooked the router up and had wireless internet on the notebook, and my desktop was fine.
But then I secured the router with a password and now I can connect to the internet with the laptop(by password WEP), but my desktop can't recieve internet. The modem seems to be working fine! any help?-thanx

Is the desktop wired or wireless?

I must've changed the settings on 'Network Connections' by mistake while messing with the router. My modem and router are working(my notebook is using it), but somethings stopping the desktop from opening up the web browser

Sometimes the Network Setup Wizard can fix problems. Go to Start>Control Panel>Network Connections and click "Set up a home or small office network" on the left side under Network Tasks. Follow the prompts.

Go to Control Panel>Internet Options, click the Connections tab and click "Never dial a connection." Click Apply and OK.

Hey I got it running again using the set up wizard. Only instead of clicking set-up I clicked 'connect to the internet' at first the browser still didn't work but I ran the 'diagnostic' and it sorted it out. Still not sure what was wrong but its working again (:
