Hi, I have a problem with my internet and lan connection dropping after I dont use the net for say 20min. The mac, that i have connected to my pc loses it's connection all together(net and lan access) regardless of it being idle or not. The only way to get the connection going again, for my pc is to log off and on again. To get the mac online again, i need to reboot my PC. Ive checked everything, i dont know why its doing this but its annoying.
Here is my setup;
WIN 2k and Mac OS 9
Netgear Switch
PC MACLAN for the Appletalk connection
2 D-Link NICs, one for the cable modem connectionso to sum up, whenever the cable modem is idle for a period of time, i lose connection. My client Mac also loses its connection after a period of time.
Any ideas what could be wrong here? Thanks in advance for any input.

Well, as usual, i solved the problem myself.
Just thought i should post what went wrong for anyone else in my situation. First off i upgraded to win xp. That didnt help anything and the same things would happen.
I also swapped out PC MACLAN for DAVE. I then swapped out the 2nd D-Link nic for a Netgear nic that i had sitting around. The first D-link couldnt be swapped out because then i would lose my connection, i guess cause of the DHCP lease tieing in with the MAC address. I also decided to include a 3rd party SYGATE Home LAN software to try things through just one nic. Anyways, when the Netgear card came to, i had LAN access the entire time. Excellent! Obviously there was a problem with the D-link card. But now i had no internet access from the MAC. So after trying everything and reinstalling ICS, i finally figured out that SYGATE was interferring. Removal of that prog, got the MAC back online and everything was and has been golden since then.Just my 2 cents on the Netgear. They make awesome products for the home lan. I have their switch and nic and they always work perfect for me. The only reason why i put in the D-link was for the wake on lan feature. But i think Netgear is way more reliable.
So anybody thats getting ready to network, defintely go with Netgear. It will save you some headache.
