I was wondering, I have a computer with a 56k modem but no network card, would it be possible to connect to a LAN using just the modem?

if you just want to connect to this lan, save yourself the trouble and buy a nic, they arnt too expensive.

They make plenty of rs-232 serial to ethernet adapters. They are rather expensive compaired to a nic or usb nic adapter. They are made for industrial apps that require older system to run across the lan. I have never seen a modem to ethernet adapter but I would suspect that one was made. Might look at shiva products
