I have two computers networked through a Netgear mr814 router. The second computer is connected to the router using a standard cat5 (straight-thru) cable. Lately, i've been gettin lost connections from the second computer only. The main computer in which i connect to DSL with works perfectly.
I can ping 192.168.0.1 (the router) fine with the second computer, but i cannot ping any websites IP addresses. The second computer renews its IP fine, so that tells me that the routers dhcp is working fine and that it can communicate with the router perfectly. There are no conflicting IP's.
I am stumped, anyone know why i cant reach the internet through my second computer?

I was a little confused reading your statement where it says main computer which I connect to DSL works fine . I assume your connection is like this wall --->DSL modem-->router---> connections to pc . If not this is the way it should be . If it is have your tried replacing the cable ? Also does it show the ip address and default gateway when do run winipcfg ? Also make sure nic card is set for auto negotiation as this is all the router understands , you cannot hardcode the nic speed/duplex settings or if you do you have to set them as either 10/half or 100/half .

Also try a different port on the router , also can't rule out a bad nic . If your computer that works is plugged into the port that the computer that is having a problem , does it work in that port ? If it does then you have narrowed it down to the computer or nic card .
