I have two pc's , both with xp pro linked with a crossed cable (2NIC's). A Cable modem into the main pc which is sharred. My question is on the High Speed/ Lan Connections settings in the control panel, the speed for the 10/100 SMC Card is 100Mbps whereas the speed for the Cable modem (IMeg) is 10mbps. Is this correct???? Surely the cable modem (1Meg) should be faster than the SMC EZ card?????
TIA!!!

10BaseT = 10,000,000 bits per second
Cable Modem approx 1,440,000 bits per second

Sorry thats all you get.

I think the absolute max rate for a cable
modem is 8,000,000 bits per second. But that
is with max of 4 subscribers per branch.

The cable modem setting is correct at 10Mbps and the LAN settings are correct at 100Mbps.
