I recently purchased a Lan Server and Installed a Formatted to FAT32 HDD.(required by item)

I can either use a USB to connect to a PC.
Which displays in My Computer and looks to be fine.
But when i connect the LAN cable to the back and the other end to the switch, the manual say's to type in http://Storage-xxxx into a web browser to configure it, but i cannot get the Browser log in to come up.
have tried all types of combination's of IP addresses.
Say's for other operating systems use: 169.254.0.1, but it no working either.

Any idea's how to get this up and running?

I think you need to read the instructions again more carefully. Typing http://Storage-xxxx into you browser isn't going to get you anywhere. There first thing the browser does is go to your DNS server to resolve http://Storage-xxxx, a domain name, into an IP address.

What you should be typing is http://169.254.0.1, or whatever the IP of the storage server is which must be on the same sub-net as the rest of your LAN.

When I put http://Storage-xxxx into my browser I end up somewhere I wouldn't like my Grandmother to see. It's the xxxx that does it. Storage is interpreted as part of a domain name which needs to be resolved into an IP address.

set your ip statically to 169.254.0.2 and then you will be able to connect to 169.254.0.1

Then you can configure it to a proper ip address within your normal subnet

How do i do that?

Having problems with the LAN Server gaina.
I removed it and plugged it to another PC to test a Cat5 cable, then put it back.
Now it cannot be found.

If i plug it directly to my pc, i can access the web control panel ans see the files on it.
When i plug my pc to the 4 port switch, and the Lan Server to the switch also, i get nothing.
I cannot see the Lan Server or bring up the web control panel.

All pc's have a Static IP of 169.254.0.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.
Not Gateway or DNS.

I cannot get the Lan Server setting correct. It can act as a DHCP server, but i was sure i had it disabled, as the pc's do not have 169.254.0.1 set as the Gateway.

What settings do i need to put in the Lan Server?

I have the correct Workgroup name as the Lan Server also.
Why does it work great when directly connected to the PC, but NOT when connected to a switch ?
