Have a strange problem as my network works only one way. Have 3 PC in network each with static IP. Have decided to reinstall one of them and since then no one can access to this PC. But this PC have access to other two. Furthermore can ping the other 2 PCs either by name or by IP, while pinging the newly setup PC from other two - Request timed out - both name and IP. The "new" PC is visible on the network.
Here is what have i done so far:
1. Have followed the Network setup wizard, including deinstalling NIC and going from zero
2. Disabled the Firewall
3. Shared the disks and gave full permission
4. Have the same workgroup on all 3 PC
5. Enabled file and printer sharingHave no idea how to proceed.
Thanks for any idea

First, you need to check the NIC and IP settings on the problem PC. Open a command prompt and type the following command:
ipconfig /all
This will tell your IP information. Ensure the IP address is in the same range as your other PC's and the subnet mask and gateway addresses are the same. If they are....ping your loopback address:
ping 127.0.0.1
If you get no reply's back, you have a problem with your NIC.
You can also ping your PC by it's hostname:
ping computername
If you get no reply's back, uninstall, then reinstall your TCP/IP stack. If you get replies back to both, your NIC and TCP stack are fine. In this case, ping the other PC's. If you get no reply, then check the network cable. Try a different (known to be working) cable.

Sounds like one of the pairs in your patch cord may be bad. Replace it with a known good patch cord, per Curt R's suggestion above.

Thanks Guys,
Have used the brand new cable, of course pretested. No change.
Curt, ipconfig shows all in order that is same range, same subnetmask, same gateway..
I can ping loopback address 127.0.0.1. So the NIC is fine.
But unfortunately the last step is not working still can ping only one way.How do i reinstall TCP/IP stack. Don't understand the meaning. It might be a language barrier as i'm not a native english speaker.
Thanks

When you say, disabled Firewall, do you mean the Windows XP built in Firewall or a software Firewall that you have installed.
It sure sounds like your built in XP firewall which is enabled by default in SP2 is still on.

Thanks Guys,
Have found the problem. Antivirus firewall ... can you believe this ... lost a week on this ... have to remember.
Anyway thanks for your ideas and time.
