I am a newbie, I want the reason for the following network issue.

For Internet, I am using dail-up or sometimes Aircard (directly connected to my Laptop). I dont want to share the Internet connection across the LAN.

My LAN setup connects through routers.

When I connect both LAN and Internet, I get 2 different IP Address for my system with different SUBNET Mask and different Default Gateway.

My Internet works fine, but my LAN connection doesnt work at all, it shows the connectivity but my not able to access any resources of my LAN. The moment I disconnect my Internet connection, LAN connection starts working fine. Please furnish your valuable solution at the earliest.

Kindly let me know, if any further information required.

Hope for your prompt solution.

Thanks

Praveen

Hi there,

You may need to add a static route for your LAN subnet. That way, your TCP/IP stack on your PC will know which interface to send out your LAN based IP packets.

What are your LAN subnet details please? If you can supply me with that info along with the output from an "ipconfig /all", I will work out the route you will need to add.

Cheers, Lofty.

Hi again,

Further to my update above - please also supply output of "netstat -r" when you are connected to the internet, this will show me your routing table.

Cheers, Lofty.
