LAN icon not found.

Specs: Windows 7, 3 GB
Hello everyone..
I'm having a big problem with my laptop...
I am unable to connect it using ethernet cable, it don't even shows the local area network icon. But it shows the wlan icon. Please help me I'm having an HCL me laptop 45 series.
And i want to connect it to lan ..

You need to turn off/disable the WLAN adapter when you want to use the ethernet connection. Ethernet will not work if wireless is turned on at the same time.

There may be a sliding switch to turn wireless on/off, or it may be one of the 'F' keys on the top row, in combination with the 'Fn' key.

I tried turning off the WLAN adapter.
Still the local area network icon did not appear.
