I am a PC tech for my company. We recently put in a new T1. I was changing settings on several computers in the company, and came upon a strange situation. On one of the W2K computers, I could not locate the LAN connection icon. I opened the Network and Dial-up Connection page, but no icons appeared-- not even the Make New Connection icon. I have conducted a search for these, with no success. I tried the Add Network Components option from the Network and Dial-up Connections page. I tried finding these from the W2K disk to re-install. Nothing is providing the desired results. Does anyone have any suggestions???

I have this same problem. It's not the NIC card. The NIC shows up in Device Manager but LAN Connection is missing. I recently made a shortcut to my LAN Connection so I can connect/disconnect manually... and now.. although the LAN icon is missing I'm still connected to the internet. but now I have no way to disconnect unless I unplug the modem. (neg) I have an idea this is a virus or a windows update gone terribly wrong. PLEASE POST SOLUTIONS HERE!!

I found an answer for my problem. But this fix is for XP.. NOt sure about Win2k.
jump into Computer Management, (right-click on My Computer>Manage) in the services section, Scroll down til you see Network Connections, Right-click>Properties>Start, and then re-open the network tab. Your icons should be there. good luck
