I have a 3 pc WiFi connection for internet aces via a Dlink G604T 4 port wireless modem/router.
each Pc has a Dlink wireless card.Due to one pc being downstairs, i am finding the conection between the upsatirs/downstairs, i cannot see/share files between them.
I purchased a small 5 port switch and ran a cat5e cable through the wall and physically connected a upstairs pc with the downstairs.
Now i get a Network Connection Icon in the task bar for the LAN Cable.
But i see NO PC.
Do i need to setup a New Network or will it work on the existing wifi network?I tried both to no avail.
I now have numerous named networks in Microsoft Windows Network, and i cannot remove them as there is no option. In Networking Neighborhood, i have the Wireless connection, and i have the LAN connection listed.
I only want to gain a constant connection between the upstairs and downstairs PC's, but cannot get to view them.
What am i missing, or doing wrong?

I managed to created a bridged connection, but i now get a yellow triangle error on the task bar saying Windows system error IP address conflict..
What do i do to resolve the error.
The LAN connection does now work however, allow me to see/share files. The Wireless router/network uses dynamic ip addresses, and i set the LAN ip addresses to similar address types of the Wireless but to static(10.1.1.x)
None of the other pc's have the same Ip address, yet i get this error.

If you are running a cable from upstairs to downstairs why connect two PCs? Run the cable from the router to the PC with a bad connection.

"I purchased a small 5 port switch and ran a cat5e cable through the wall and physically connected a upstairs pc with the downstairs."
Does the switch have a uplink port? If not did you wire the cat5 as a crossover not a straight cable?
Home routers are in the 192.168.x.x network not 10.x.x.x by default so your addressing may be wrong. Do a ipconfig on one of the pcs to verify.
I have no idea why you are trying to bridge a connection. It does not fit with your setup.

"I have no idea why you are trying to bridge a connection. It does not fit with your setup."
I have no idea why, but it seemed to work for a bit, before i started getting serious errors.
I now get random reboots and the like.My situation is like this:
I have the Modem Router in a cupboard up stairs, but it is NOT near an external wall, so running a LAN cable is not an option to it.So i purchased a (http://www.digitan.com.au/product.php?printable=Y&productid=36340&cat=1406&page=1) switch.
I ran 2(one spare) Cat5e cables through the wall from upstairs to the downstairs(straight cable not Crossover).
Plugged a patch (straight) cable from the downstairs PC to the wall plate then another from the upstairs wall plate to the switch.
Another patch cable from the upstairs PC to the switch also.I had the existing Wireless network set up on a Dynamic(not Static) 10.1.1.x configuration.
Then i created a new Network connection for the LAN/Switch and gave it a name.
I then got no connection, although the lights on the switch were good.
I tried Dynamic and static ip addresses for the LAN network and both i got ip address errors.I guess i really need to start over with a step by step assistance.
How can i use the current network items and have the internet and LAN working correctly using the switch between upstairs and downstairs?
Bearing in mind the limitations of the modem location and not able to have a cable run to it.

If connecting a routers lan port to a switch and neither supports mdi/mdix and the switch doesn't have a uplink button/port you must use a crossover cable.
Start there.
