You have at least two ways to consider:

Connect to your router with a standard ethernet/cat-5 cable. Then logon to your router's home page. Once there you can access the complete wifi setup section, and read/see your password there. Also you will see what the SSID is too. Suggest you write both down - taing care to ensure you have the detials correct. Then stick the password to the base of "your" router. If this is "your system/router" then having the password etc on the base is likely no problem... If it's generally accessed/used by others - and you are in effect "in charge/admin" then perhaps it's still OK, but equally you might prefer to have it sotred elsewhere. Either way - ensure you have it stored somewhere else too; and also email it to yourself - but do not include the SSID in that email. Then you have it "on-line" as t were for future emergencies too>

The other way - is to simply reset the router back to factory state; and start all over again. The reset button is on the back (usually); and (usually) accessed via a paper clip etc through a small hole... The manual for your router will tell how...

Connecting by ethernet is logically the better way as you will not be erasing all your current settings...

To access your router's homepage/management area:

Open your web browser and type the IPaddress of the wireless router in the address bar (default is192.168.0.1). Press Enter.

Step 2 The default username is admin and the password is blank (nothing). ClickOK.
