You don't have a "static route"
You don't mention gateway

Don't you mean DNS servers? No dns servers listed results on only getting to web site by ip not name.

This means you can't get to yahoo.com except by typing the ip address

You don't need a static route.
You need:
static IP
subnet mask
default gateway to your ISP
DNS server IP of your ISP

Yes, they gave me a gateway and dns.

Dns: I didn't use the supplied servers because I have internal dns servers on the network. May be it won't heurt to add them.

Gateway: that's the confusing part. Where do I add it? I thought it was the static route.

Could you give me an example of the commands needed to get this accomplished?

Thanks

There is no static route. There is a static IP and a default gateway.

Guys,

I am trying to do this on a Cisco Router not a dsl router like linksys or a workstation.

As far as I know, the command is:
ip default-gateway <your_ISPs_gateway_address>

you also do not point to your internal dns server. It [your internal dns server] should point to the isp dns servers.

If you go to cisco's site and lookup your model router they have routine configs you can use as examples.
