I was just wondering if AOL DSL can be shared among A LAN using DLINK/Linksys routers?
You input would be greatly appreciated

aol dsl does not require a network card. All it needs is your computer and your phone line. So it plugs into the same port as the modem but it does not require a network card. I have ATTBI Att broadband internet and it requires me that I need to have a network card to be online. So if you want a internet service that requires a netowork interface card then I suggest that you go with ATT @ home cable internet service.

NO, the routers do NOT work with AOL DSL 7.0. AOL uses a proprietary PPPoE protocol and to my knowledge no router is yet compatible. What you can do is get you network working (node to node) using the switch, hub (don't use any routing functionality) and then use InterNetShare or PPPshare software ($30-$50) yet can demo for 30 days free. The master goes on the unit connected to the internet and the clients on the others.

Yah, I contacted AOL and they said that their AOL DSL 7.0 does not work with any router. I spent almost 4 days to get this answer from them. Initially they told me that it would work and they pointed me to LinkSys. But Finally they told me that AOL does not work with any router, and also they told me that they are working on it and they do not know when it would available.
AOL as usual sucks.

Just spoke to aol tech, thry are selling wireless linksys router with their software built in for $150. Tech told me that software was becoming available at non-AOL sights to download and set up your own router. I'm searching as we speak so please let me know if anyone finds anything.
