So, I'm connected to the internet but I'm trying to set up a static IP for this machine. When I go to check my DNS servers in cmd (Comcast is my ISP, btw) by typing ipconfig /all it doesn't show the DNS servers. Occasionally, it will list my default gateway (192.168.1.1) as my DNS servers, but that isn't true.

What is going on?

That's called DNS proxy, it can be turned off in some routers.

Refer to your router's manual on how to do so.

I actually went into my router settings (using DD-WRT firmware) and found the DNS servers listed there.

Thanks!
