ip to ip fowarding

Specs: Windows Vista
i have a server that i run on my computer with a dynamic ip. its a gaming server so when i set up domain name server, the people are not use to entering a www.name.com to join a server. the whole community is use to entering a ip number, so no one joins when its a name. so is there a way to get a static ip address to foward to a dynamic ip. i dont want to publish the dynamic ip becase it will be different the next day and all my advertising efforts are gone. i already tried to get a static ip address from my company. they dont do that.

If they won't do that then where are you getting this static ip from?

My understanding of Godaddy is they are great at hosting a web site and they can give your web site a static ip, [ there are questions concerning their ability to actually supply static ip].

but hosting a home game server vs a hosted web site are two very different things.

this appears to be a shortcoming of the game. after all if chosen by name it works. this allows the ISP to change the ip as needed. They just update dns and when asked by name walla you are there.

It certainly can be done but someone has to provide the ip and be able to edit public dns to get what you want.

Now if you could publish your game by the currect ip address that might make it easier for those wanting to join the game to do so by ip address.

ipchicken can tell you your ip.
