Hi,
Newbie question, lets say I have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 ,and an IP 149.153.*.*,how would I work out the range of IP addesses in the subnet. This is part of a college lab experiment,we were to note the different subnets from different parts of the college campus and work out the subnet ranges.

The mask is on the 3rd field so your subnets will be on the 3rd octet , 149.98.3.0 ,149.98.4.0 , 149.98.5.0 etcccccccc ... so addresses would be 149.98.3.1 -149.98.3.254 , with 255 broadcast , the rest would be the same 149.98.4.1-254 and so on and so forth .

From reading the link you provided, and doing some calculations I came up with the following, can someone tell me if im in the right direction or not...thanks
IP - 149.153.105.67 Netmask - 255.255.255.0
Subnet Host range address - 149.153.105.1 - 149.153.105.255
max hosts for subnet mask 255.255.255.0 =254 max subnets 256
