IP CIDR Subnetting Assistance

I have a quick question about CIDR computations. When computing a subnet mask \number the CIDRs are easy to compute if the binary bits are in order (11100000 = 224 [/3] ; 11111000 = 248 [/5]) but how do you figure out a CIDR number if the binary is something like 11001011...which would represent a .203 octet decimal number in a subnet mask? Thanks!

You can't have a subnet mask like that.

While I agree that there are calculators out there that allow it, in practice you would find that almost no or no hardware supports that. It could happen and you can put those numbers in as a subnet mask on a computer the problem is not the computer but you wouldn't be able to route it. So in effect there was no reason to subnet it.
