Hi all,

I know it is not a hacking site, and I am not planning to hack anyone as I am newbee, bofore anyone start abusing me. But I like to know if there is anyway that I could find out the IP address of someone who is in a chat room?

This is because there is one person who has made the chatting very unpleasent to every one by multiposting and causing the site to crash. I have reported this the the site admin but I don't think they really care.

All I want is to find out his IP address so that in the room I can tell him that I know his IP, maybe this would scare him or her.

Please don't abuse me for this...only helpful suggestions please.

Thanks.
Cheers,
Steve.

You don't mention what chat program you're using...and it does make a difference. If you're using mIRC you can simply type the following command:

/dns

Where is the nick of the person who's IP address you wish to find out

I'll try that again:

/dns {nickname}

Where {nickname} is the nick of the person who's IP address you wish to know.

Do you really think ISP have time to waste with kids on the chat?

If you don't have fun on this channel, use another one, or invest your time in constuctive activities!

The ip address assigned to that user is most likely dynamically assigned meaning it will change from time to time regardless of whether they are using dial-up or a dedicated connection(DSL, cable modem, etc.)and will not likely faze that "character". See if you can report the alias to the webmaster or system administrator. Or you could take Danny's advice and use other forms of entertainment. The internet can be friendly, useful, educational and most of all fun but some people have a distorted idea of what fun is and enjoy ruining a good thing for others which is unfortunate.
