Comment:

I have an NT 4 server that does email and DHCP. When I connect my XP laptop to the network, I sometimes get an IP address conflict. In fact the address that it conflicts with is that of the DHCP server. The laptop is configured for DHCP and is also used at home with a different IP numbering scheme, but since I'm using DHCP I don't see where this is a problem. The server address is listed in excluded addresses on the server, so don't know why this is happening. Our Unix server shows where the 2 MAC address are fighting for the 1 IP address.
Thank you for any help

Can you assign another private IP to it, in the IP range that you have?
