hello. Internet problem.
I did:
-changes in registry
-reseting anything: nic drivers, services (dhcp and dns client), tcp/ip, and finaly xp
-ping 127.0.0.1 => ok(working properly)
ip address is = 0.0.0.0 (an other pc is working in this network)
-unable contact dhcp server. still problem exist
thanks for solution.

Normally I start with a "repair" using the network icon and right click to pull up repair menu selection.
See here first, even though I disagree with most of it.

Put back the reg entries.
If onboard nic remove from system software and reboot.
If add on nic then remove from software, power down, remove power plug, and re-seat nic and power back on.
System should re-install nic and default should be dhcp if not set to your topology.
Might be better ways also. I like to run live linux cd's to be sure the system works.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

I had this problem once - turns out I accidentally configured Windows XP to optimize itself for a computer with no internet connection by using TuneUp Utilities 2008.
(Assuming this is high-speed internet connected by LAN) Check and make sure your ethernet card is enabled, and that the internet connection in the Network Connections folder in the Control Panel is enabled as well.
And if you have any advanced system configuration programs such as TuneUp, make sure you didn't change something there, either.
I not sure of anything else that would be causing it, but if you can't find the problem, you'll have to call your internet service provider.
Hope this helps,
-Trent

ugga25 you are missing information
For example you say nic but is it wired or wireless?
If wired did you try a different cable that is tested as good?
How are you connected to the internet?
Do you have a router?
who is your service provider?
If you disconnect the other machine from the network does this machine get internet?

What does ipconfig /all show?
