0.0.0.0 means you can't renew IP. CHeck your LAN settings for auto DHCP, and auto IP. IF these are set then check the ISP connection...make sure it is setup correctly to the router or whatever you are using....what are u using???

0.0.0.0 doesn't mean you can't renew, it means you don't have an IP at all. If you are connecting directly between 2 computers then a crossover is the cable you need. The computers should assign themselves an IP address if they are both set to Obtain and IP address automatically. In that case you should see an address in the 169.254.x.x range. Otherwise you could manually assign an IP address to each. If you want to try that, keep it simple. Give one computer an IP of 10.1.1.1 with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0 and give the other computer and IP address of 10.1.1.2 with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0 - you can leave the default gateway blank on both and you should be able to connect after a reboot. You should at least be able to ping each other. If not, make sure you have a link light on each NIC and then make sure the cable is actually a crossover and that it is a good cable.

Good luck.
