Okay, I've done all the usual checks - cables, reset the router, renew IP address, etc.

After running ipconfig /all in the command prompt, "Physical address" (ie. the MAC address) is displayed as FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF, which I know is invalid. The IP address is also invalid, but I think the bad MAC address is the cause of the problem. Without a valid MAC address, she can't connect to the network.

How do I resolve this problem?

Thanks

Well she's just told me it's working again now. Apparently she switched off the PC at the mains (after properly shutting down), and then put it on again. *shrug*
