int/ext ip - how it works?

hi some fundamental question on ip:
let's say I have 5 pc in my LAN. One of them, pc 1, has a live ip and is connected to the internet. The rest are on internal non live (but static) ip. I can always use my other 4 pc to connect to this pc with live ip to access the internet right? (in a simplistic kind of explaination)
When I surf the internet on any of my non live ip machines, the internet will recognise those machine ip as the ip of pc 1 (the one with a live ip) right?
So how does the internet distinguish between the four non live ip machines? Via a different port?

It's called NAT which stands for Network Address Translation. If you're using proxy software or ICS, it employs NAT technology to convert your client (the host PC being the one connected to the internet) PC's IP address to the external (internet) address of the host PC and also does the reverse with incoming traffic and directs it to the correct client PC on your LAN.
Basically, NAT keeps a table of all client IP's and uses that table to route traffic from external sources (internet) on the internal LAN.
