Hey
Just got a broadband modem/router and connected 2 pcs up to it. i have to wait a week or 2 for my broadband to become active so im now using dialup till then. used internet connection sharing, both of our pcs are now connected but i cant get the net to work on the other pc. the host pc doesnt have a network adapter but both plugged into the adsl modem/router. can still access each others files, was wondering how exactly can i setup so the other pc can share the net!!!!
im using mcafee virus and firewall, host pc is using norton. i configured the adapters but still not working. i even turned off the firewalsl briefly to see if there was a problem, still no effect. the settings must be wrong.
plz help and thanx in advance!

Well, as you've already found out, none of what you've done will work.
Internet Networking is hierarchical: That means that everything flows DOWN from the Internet. This is very important to remember. When you connect via dialup on your "host PC", the "client PC" must be below the host in the network structure to use its dialup connection to reach the Internet.
Your router in your current configuration is *above* both PCs so even though your client PC can "see" the host it can't share its Internet connection; they're at the same level in the network. To make this work disable the router's internal DHCP server (read the manual for how to do this), plug your host PC into the WAN port of the router and enable Internet Connection Sharing on it. This turns the router into a simple 4-port switch and the Host PC becomes the DHCP server. You can then share the Internet with as many client PCs as you have client ports on your router/switch.
When your broadband connection comes in disable ICS on your host, plug it back into a client port on the router and reconfigure it as a client, restart the router's DHCP server, and plug your cable modem into its WAN port. Now the Internet traffic will flow from the cable modem to the router and then to the router's clients.
