Hi,
im having difficulties sharing my internet connection between my PC and my MacBook Pro.
Basically i have just purchased a Netgear FS605 hub, and i have connected port 1 to my modem and the computers on ports 2 and 3, but i can only gain access to the internet from 1 computer at a time,
how can i access the internet from both computers at the same time,

Exchange the hub for a router.

I'm still going to give you the same answer. Exchange it for a router.

You only need the switch if you are going to have more than 4 wired PCs on your network.

A hub and a switch do pretty much the same job except that a switch does it better. A switch is for connecting computers together in a Local Area Network. A router is for connecting two networks together. In this case a Local Area Network and the Internet. Most home routers come with a 4 port switch built in.
Which makes the switch you already have pretty much redundant unless you have more than four computers to connect to the Internet.
