Guys
I've got a laptop which I use to connect to the internet via a wired BT hub. I've also got a printer on a network shared by three other computers. I'd like to print to this printer from my laptop when on the internet. I've tried using a pcmcia card but once this card is operating the computer only looks at the fastest connection i.e. the pcmcia card. Is it possible to surf the net and be connected to a printer at the same time? surely yes, so what am I doing wrong? how can I get this to work?Rob

So your using EVDO card? if so, I would go buy a EVDO router... then you can surf the Internet and print at the same time. it's a long story why, it's not working..

sorry but I suspect the issue has nothing to do with a wireless card.
robbie1 your first two sentences are not clear. You use a wired connection to a hub in the first sentence. Then you mention a three pc network connected to the desired target printer.
Are these one and the same network or two distinctly different networks?
Is the printer a network printer? Or is it shared off a pc?
Let's get some clarification and then you can be properly advised.

Hello Wanderer
Sorry if the original question was a bit confusing, I'll try again.
The laptop is directly wired from a USB output to the bt hub.
The printer is a hp laserjet 4050N and is connected via a netgear switch to three different pc's in the house. So is on a completely different network. I'm trying to connect to this netgear switch from my laptop using a pcmcia 10/100 network pc card.
So I've got two seperate networks on my laptop, one wired to the bt hub and one wired to the switch and printer. Once the pcmcia card is inserted the laptop prints perfectly to the printer, but the internet stops. As soon as I remove the pcmcia card the internet resumes. Is it possible for the laptop to connect to these two seperate networks to allow me to print directly when on the internet? If so how?
Hope this is a better explanation.

Get a EVDO router, that will take care of the problem, then plug everything into the router, you printer, computers ...etc, then your evdo card is your WAN card, or Internet. the issue is, that it's metric problem, your Internet card has a lower metric..
