Solved Internet Only Work's in Safe Mode

July 18, 2013 at 20:19:32
Specs: Windows 7
I been lurking around the forums and seen a few similar post's, One member stated to another member to Post a log file from HijackThis, But before i get to that, here is a brief description of my issue. For quite some time now my internet would drop connection for hours at a time, The weird thing is, it would state that i DO indeed have internet connection (I.E Hovering over the Internet access/Network icon), I have windows 7, It does indeed work in safe-mode.

I was on the Comcast forum's thinking it had something to do with my ISP, Maybe bad wires coming from the pole outside to my Townhouse, Never got that far as to have a tech come out and check, Changed modem's, I currently have the xfinity ARRIS TG852 modem/router combo.

So, That being said, here's my log file.

I see both McAfee and AVG mentioned. I trust you have only one AV running in the background?

Download and run this freebie:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
The Scan will show you what add-on toolbars are present and the Delete button will remove them all. At best these are unnecessary and at worst they are dangerous. Even if it removes the AVG toolbar it should be possible to re-invoke it from AVG if you feel you really must have it.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Few more things, Changed modem's as i stated in my previous post to the ARRIS TG852, Same problem. I do have WiFi, even when my connection drop's and i cant surf the web, i can still connect to wifi from my phone and it works, So i have internet connection, but i don't, if that makes sense, Maybe some malware changed some setting's around, Yes i tried MSCONFIG and unchecked all the start-up applications, Problem still persist's

First of all, I would try to download and run an AntiVirus LiveCD.
Therefore, google for virenscanner live cd, download the ISO file, burn it to CD, boot the computer from CD, update the virus definition files and run a full scan of your system.

Sounds like your proxy settings might have been changed... check in Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings... make sure that the connect through a proxy is unchecked.

You've been helped by a 15 year old.

Do you use Internet Explorer as your browser? If so open it up. Then hit the ALT key to bring up your menu bar at the top. Then click on Tools--Internet Options . Then clicl on the Connections tab and then click on the Lan Settings button. That'll get you to where you were asking about. I would be inclined to think this is some sort of an infection in your system, especially since your Internet works in safe mode.

Thank's Derek, i will do just that. Good new's, So far the internet has not dropped, i ran malwarebytes, Found at-least 9 infections, maybe more, Then i ran SUPERAntiSpyware,
Found forty tracking cookies, Deleted them, Then deleted my quarantined infections, Computer & the internet have been running better ever since, Since then i uninstalled McAfee and AVG, and now have WebRoot Secure anywhere as my AV.
