Internet not Connecting - Automatic Detect Settings Uncheckd

March 27, 2012 at 04:25:47
Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium
Everytime I open the IE, it takes about 3 minutes to open up.
Its says at the bottom left corner "detecting proxy settings".

I went to Tools>Internet Options>Connections Tab>LAN settings> and unchecked Automatically detect settings, but still did NOT help.

Any other suggestions?

Why did you do that?

I would suggest you start by undoing that change.

This sounds like it could be a software issue. Does the same happen when you use another browser?

Before I saw your post, I found myself in a different browser (Access Help opened the browser), and went to a different tab and am now able to use the internet.
Your good thoughts might have influenced this to happen - thanks.
But now how do i get my internet shortcut button to open up in a different browser?

I would delete the one that doesn't work and make a new one from the one that does. If you're not sure how, google "create a windows shortcut" and you should find plenty of info.
