I have one computer connected to the Internet - with a Netgear DG834G router and Netgear WG111 USB adapter.
For the last two weeks, I've noticed an Internet Gateway icon in the Network Connections area of the Control Panel.
When I connect to the Internet, an Internet Connection icon (icon with two screens) appears in the taskbar. The Internet Connection doesn't always appear in the Control Panel and taskbar but it does most of the time.
When I disable the Internet Gateway connection in the Control Panel, I find that I can't connect to the Internet. It sounds as if someone has set up Internet Connection Sharing on my computer.
How can I delete the Internet Gateway connection permanently? It didn't used to appear in the Control Panel.
When I go to 192.168.0.1, I get my router's home page but when I did a pathping in DOS, I noticed the IP address 192.168.0.2 was linked to my connection, as well.

Go into the network properties on the connection, and uncheck the box that says " Share internet connection". Then go into TCPIP properties and make sure that the IP assignment is set to dynamic( Automatically assign IP addresses). Restart your computer, and it should be okay!
