Internet Explorer 8 won't connect to any site

November 28, 2009 at 19:01:03
Specs: Windows XP
I recently was infected by Antivirus Pro malware- it was so bad it would not launch any programs, could not boot to safe mode, the only thing I could do was go to the antivirus pro website to order the "product." I could not surf to any other webpage.

I was able to get rid of the malware by booting to cd and running a scan with Kaparsky- only now IE 8 does not work. It will not connect with any webpage. I have gone to Microsoft and reinstalled IE 8 with all updates, but it still will not work.

Firefox works, Safari works, just not IE. Anyone have any suggestions?

Take a look at the plug-ins of IE8.
You may have to delete one of the plug-ins to get rid of it.
Therefore first click Start / Control Panel / Internetoptions / Programs / Manage Add-ons, to search the list for suspicious Add-ons.
You can delete Add-ons by clicking Start / Control Panel / Intenet Options / General / Settings / Show Objects.
There you can delete the Add-Ons you'd like to.
Then close everyting and restart windows.
Try browsing again.
