I really need a little assistance here, and pls bear with the question. I have 2 PCs connected to a hub with each PC having 1 NIC each. I also have cable internet. Now, if I connect the internet cable to the hub, the PC which is turned on first gets the internet connection while the other PC will not get connected to the internet. Is there a way to have both computers simultaneously connected to the internet without having to buy a second NIC? I do not want to go through the hassles of buying a second NIC. Thanks in advance for your help, guys.

Check out the various cable router solutions out there. A hub will not do. Linksys makes good 4 and 8 port cable routers.

your cable outlet needs to plug into an ethernet card on your pc, not the hub. one way to avoid having the second nic card is to use a router. good luck, Al

your cable company probably only allows one ip address for your residence. Your best bet is to get a router that will share your connection. or call the cable company, and ask for a 2nd ip address (they may charge you)
