I have a D-Link DCM-202 cable modem and a D-Link DI-524 router as well as two computers, a custom one and a HP laptop. Well on the desktop it works fine, but no matter if I connect directly to the laptop from the modem or via the router, it has an autoconfig IP address. I release it and renew it and INSTANTLY it says it cannot renew as if basically there is no cable at all. I've tried different modems, routers and cables and it just does it on that computer. I also uninstalled the network card and reinstalled it in Device Manager and still the same result.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or at least what is wrong?

Thanks,
Jacob

hi jacob
how are u ?

u did not write any thing about how are u trying to connect the laptop to the router - is it throgh usb/wirless adapter?

i guess the problem is with newtork adapter that you have on the laptop OR it could be a problem with the different ip configuation .

please write me back.
