Hello,
I have Internet Connection Sharing installed on my 2-PC Home Network and it works fine - except for one issue: As soon as the "client" computer is fully booted up, it sends a request to dial since I hear the modem (on the "main" computer) begin to dial. But the problem is, the Dial-up Networking window does not come up on the "main" computer (it never does) so I cannot stop the un-neccesary dialing. Is there any way to:
#1 - Set it so that whenever the "client" PC dials through the "main" PC, a dial-up window pops up on the "main" PC? (Instead of "Stealth Dialing" - where only the modem sounds, but there is no window)
#2 - Fix it so that the "client" PC soes not attempt to dial everytime it is turned on. I am thinking this is an issue with the TCP/IP settings because when I attempt to Ping the main computer, it starts to dial the internet. So the reason for the main computer dialing upon startup of the client is the client is "pinging" the network and thus causing a dial-up to occur on the main PC? How do I stop this?
#3 - The client also has a modem installed, so it would be nice if I could have the option to dial independantly of the main pc if I wanted to from the client. Is there an easy way to switch between dialing through its own modem and dialing through the main PC? Or is Billy Gates still working on that?
Thanks in advance for your help!
-Marc

What is running on the client that would cause the connection to dial? On my computer, it's ICQ. The moment ICQ starts, ICS dials out. Solution, diable ICQ.
Second solution, on the host, go into Internet Properties -> Connection (I think) and check "Never Dial". This will force Windows to dial only when you want it to.
