Hi,
I have a linksys wrt54gc wireless router and I keep loosing connection. The distance between the laptop and router is about 5 metres at most.
If I connect the laptop directly to the modem it is fine.
I have reset the router and upgraded the firmware but every 5 minutes or so whilst I am downloading from anywhere, the connection will just drop. If I am not downloading it is every 10 minutes or so that it will lose connection.
******Has anyone experienced this and know of a solution?? ******
I have done some research into the router using google and alot of people complain about Linksys routers. But then there's complaints about others going 'bad' too.
*****Can anyone recommend a good one?*****
I have had problems with routers all my bloody computing life and it is driving me crazy. I have a budget of around $100/£50.

Are you sure it's not the wireless card in the laptop that's the problem?
Life's more painless for the brainless.

Well the laptop works on works wireless and my mothers wireless. I didnt mention, the send and receive lights on the modem go off for about 30 seconds or so but the router lights stay on.
