Internet access using wirless card

I am getting this message from my Linksys wirless card(WPC11 V.4) : cannot associate with the access point
I even cannot ping the router but it seems connected to the router as i has ip address and gateway and says connected but no access point
Other persons also sharing the broadband coonnection with the rouer but I cannot and I have windows 98.
Any one have idea?
