I recently built a new computer, and all seemed well until I went to put it on the home network. There are already 4 other machines working on the network quite happily, and after I registered the new ones MAC address in the routerswitch it connected fine. After some new updates it needed restarting then refused to re-connect. I tried everything I could think of; repairing the connection, checking the router settings, looking up the address last allocated to the machine and setting it statically, re-installing the network driver. Eventually I got so fed up a did a format and clean install of windows and it still wouldn't connect. When I tried it this morning however, it worked absolutley fine again. After finding there was a newer version of the NIC driver, I updated it, restarted and nothing!
It seems that as long as it is left off for at least a few hours, it will connect again, but I can't think why. The network card is integrated into the mother board, it's a realtek one. The router is by azurewave, which no-one has heard of, but it works for everything else fine. I don't know what else to try but if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful for any help, and if you need any more information please ask.
Thanks very much for reading

Thinking about it, theres a bit more info I can add...
It's a cabled network, and I tried the same point and cable on my laptop which connected fine. I also got a peer to peer going fine with static addresses between this new machine and my laptop, so I'm thinking maybe a DHCP problem?
The machine tries to connect and eventually gives the 'limited or no connectivity' error, with some random IP address 169..., where I'm on a 10.1.1.x system.
It's an RTL8169/8110 gigabit ethernet adapter
I think that's about all for now

Can you please confirm if this is a wireless or wired connection you are trying to establish?
