Comment: What does 'Integrated 802.11g Wireless LAN (Atheros) mean? The detailed specs of this toshiba laptop (satellite p10 s429) mentions: V92 modem, Integrated 10/100 LAN, **Integrated Wireless 802.11g LAN** It is Pentium 4 (not M). Do i have to buy something like a wireless PCMCIA card to go internet wirelessly? Or do i just need to have a wireless router at home or a free hot-spot to be online wireless(ly)? (i have wired broadband connection). Could somebody please tell me... Thank you.

Reply: (edit)It means what it says, you have both wired and wireless network connections built in. You don't need a PCMCIA card. 802.11g is the latest wireless standards. There is also 802.11a and 802.11b but they are mostly obsolete. As you surmise, to make us of the integrated wireless LAN you need a wireless router or you can connect to a wireless hot spot. Stuart

Reply: (edit)Thanks Stuart, appreciate that. I was confused that it meant that it is wi-fi compatible but did not know (until now) that it actually has the WLAN card (miniPCI or otherwise) built-in. Thanks again. cheers.
