Can anyone tell me an easy way to install CGI server on a PC considering the operating system as windows 2000 and linux which ever is easier. I want to setup CGI server as soon as possible and any information is helpful.

Hi Sajid,
Just to clarify things, there is no CGI server, but I understand what you're asking; you want to run CGI scripts on a webserver. To do that you'll need a computer with webserver software installed as well as Perl, for running the CGI scripts.
Since you're open to Linux, I recommend using Linux with Apache as your webserver, and with Perl installed. You'll end up with a much more stable and secure system. Some folks will argue which OS is easier, Windows or Linux, but the fact is that both are about as easy as the other to use. The only question is which one are you accustomed to using?
Once you have Apache and Perl installed, you're ready to go. Just place your CGI script in /var/www/cgi-bin. You'll write the code for your web page so that it calls the script, and the script will run using Perl.
It's really pretty easy. You can even download pre-written scripts from Matt's Script Archive (www.scriptarchive.com).
