Hey all, I am having an issue on only one computer at my desk where it continuously queries hosts over and over and over again every second. It is continuously receiving responses and issuing more queries (repeated hosts, i.e. 4.0.168.192.in-addr.arpa or workstation04.localnet.net). Granted I made up those names but, it is querying valid hosts over and over again on my network.
In my systray I have my TX/RX lights and my Rx light is on solid all the time and I am supposedly receiving about 50 packets a second...I have even stopped the DNS client service and the computer continues to issue DNS request.
I know this sounds fishy, but this computer is only about a month old and before ever connecting to the web I installed Norton Corporate and Adaware. So I am without ideas.
Thanks in advance for any input.

One of the symptoms of the Sasser worm is increased Modem activity.
No user action is required.
All you have to do is connect to the internet for about two minutes with your firewall down or running a firewall that is missing the critical update from Microsoft that stops the worm for exploiting you PC and you are infected.

Heya guys and gals, thanks for your feedback. Followed the link above to the MS Sasser tool/check and it says I am not infected (which I would've hoped but not to arrogant to check ;-) So just figured I would throw out that update in the case any of you are interested.

Yeah that article is pretty intense.. Now I am supposed to be a networking GURU (only about two years in the field though...) so I need to buckle down and try to see if any of this applies. Thanks Dave, I let you know if/when I figure anything out.
One more interesting note... this only happens on my office LAN. My home LAN does not do this either on my 802.11b interface nor wired interface @ 100Mbps.
