Improve internet speed on a wireless network?

Specs: Windows vista, Dell Inspiron/4 gb
I have a small home wireless network which supports two desktops and a laptop. I use a dlink wbr1310 router. My broadband is dsl, with a speed of 10mbps. The laptop and one of the desktops have good speed, but the other, which uses a belkin usb wireless adapter, does not. I have talked to belkin and e-mailed dlink, to no avail. This desktop also has an Nvidia nforce network adapter, which, I think, supports an ethernet connection. Does anyone have any ideas? TIA Leatha Johnson

wireless is always slower than wired.

Always best to keep same brand to same brand which means dlink to dlink not dlink to belkin.
