Comment:

This is a Dell Dimension 3000 running XP Home SP2 with broadband (Time Warner cable) internet. After a restart of the computer, when opening IE for the first time, it opens very slowly. It takes about half a minute for the Home Page to open. I tried changing the home page and it made no difference. Once the home page loads, browsing is fine. All other pages load very quickly and if I close and reopen IE, the home page will then also load very quickly. It's only after starting the computer and opening IE for the first time that the problem exists. I have ran thorough virus/spyware cleaning and all scans currently come back clean.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Are you using IE6 or 7?

Also, does it take half a minute before you see the IE window or does the window come up fast, but it just takes its time loading the page?

Hmm I wonder what happened to decency and morality? Doesn't anyone remember them?

Using IE7. I have seen other forums where this is a problem with IE7 but haven't found a solution as of yet. The IE window takes about 15 seconds to open, then it says "connecting" in the status bar, then after another 15 seconds or so the page finally loads.
Thanks.

Try loading IE without addons by going to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (No Addons).

Resetting IE (Tools|Internet Options|Advanced|Reset) corrected the problem.
Thanks for the input.
