My wireless wmp54g card always seems to aquire a new ip address, and it disconnects me in the process. This only occurs when the connection is idle for about 5-10 minutes. If it is active, it doesn't disconnect, but makes traffic on my network. How can I amke it stay connected for a long period of time, without getting disconnected and having to keep it active?

check the dhcp lease time on the router. this tells your pc how long to keep it's IP address and how often to ask for a new one.
