Hello, I am going to be going to university in a matter of weeks, and have found out that it is only possible to connect one machine to the universitys LAN per room. As I have two machines (one desktop and one notebook) I was wondering if there is any was possible to set up some sort of ICS like system, whereby the laptop connects to the desktop via WiFi, and the desktop machine acts like a proxy, so as far as the LAN is concerned there is only one IP/one machine. To clarify, I'm NOT simply looking to create a network bridge, but somehow hide the fact that my notebook is connected to the internet/network via that access point.
Thanks in advance

Question: Is there a policy in your university stating you can only have one PC connected in your room? If yes, then stop right now and plan on only having one connected at a time.
If not, then yes, you could use ICS although you would need a wireless NIC in your PC as well as the laptop and then you'd have to set up an Ad-Hoc wireless network between them.
Alternatively, for around $50 you could buy a highspeed internet router (wireless) and use it. Although, if it were me, I'd just plug the laptop in with a cable and skip the wireless because in the environment you describe there's likely to be someone nearby who would be tempted to use your connection and if they did something illegal or against school policy, you'd be the one found responsible as records would show the activity came from your connection.

Yes, I agree w/ Curt. The only thing is that you could use encryption on your wireless network, and that way nobody can intrude on your connection.
If God has to teach someone a lesson more than once to get them to learn it, it just goes to show how stubborn they are.
