ICS conflicting TCP/IP settings???

When running ICS on two Win 98 machines, the Network, nor the Dial=up connection to my ISP, works. But when I uninstall ICS, I can browse the network connection fine and I can connect to my ISP. I'm assuming there is some conflict with the ICS TCP/IP settings but am not sure where to go with this. I removed all Network services and devices and restarted the computer and got them all reinstalled properly, and the network and dial-up works fine... but then I installed ICS again and had the same problem as before. So I just uninstalled ICS and everything else works again (WITHOUT ICS).

Is there any way I can get ICS to work with my system or do I have to BUY something like WinProxy?

Thanks in advance for your help...
-Marc

ICS should work. There's no reason to get something else if it does what you want it to do.

Having said that, there are quite a few programs out there that do the same thing, only better, and are free - and I think free is always a good price :)

Sounds like there's something in your network neighborhood properties that set wrong. Just about every setting there should be either automatic or disabled, including DNS. The IP tables will build by themselves when the software installs, and you connect to your ISP.

Here is the problem.. Set your modem as the Ishare divce when installing ICS and set the TCIP setiings to auto detect.. same as you would normaly.. Set the Nic Card TCIP setting to specify.. give it a non public IP like.. 192.168.0.1. no gateway or dns.. now plug it into your hub and inable the DHCP option in ICS.. All other pc's conecting to that hub should be set to auto detect.. and she should fly..

If the DHCP FALIS to assighn internal IP's to your other macheins then Disable DHCP in the ICS .. now connect to the net with your modem go to start run and type winipcfg.. and hit more info.. write down the DNS ip ..
Now go to your other internal macheins TCIP settings and give them the ip's 192.168.0.2 and 3 and 4 and so on.. got to gateway and give them 192.168.0.1 and hit add.. go to DNS
Your host will be the name of the PC you working on.. your DNS IP will be the one you
wrote down.. hit add... and you will be sailing.. if it dont work ARGE !!!! ?
