it it possible to share an internet connection between 2 computers using an Internal ADSL Modem? preferrably without going wireless.

Install a network card in the desktop that has the internet access now.
Set a IP address to the new network card. (192.168.1.10 subnet 255.255.0.0)
Install a network card in the other PC.
Connect the desktop's Via a CAT5 cross over cable.
Set up ICS or a proxy program such as Sygate home network on the desktop. (The Sygate home network program also contains a DHCP service so you wont have to manually configure the other desktop.)

Hi Johns,
I have tried this kind of connection with a 5 PC P2P Network (Server: W2K Pro, Client: XP Home), with a HUB and Server being the ICS Central.
I have installed protocols (TCP/IP, Client MS Networks, QoS Stacker Packer, IPX/SPX, F&P Sharing). Clients have firewalls disabled, would the server required to be unfirewalled? Would it have any affect if it were firewalled?
Also they don't seem to have a consistent network. The IPs dissapear. They see each other via the GUI but unable to ping each other (Whether its from the server or workstation).
The current situation is unable to establish (ICS). Which the server has the proxy settings correct and the clients having the automatic detection and no proxy enabled due to thinking they would be able to see it from the server? Is that correct?

I got a trial version of Sygate Home Network and connevted the 2 computers via CAT5 crossover cable, but the computer I'm trying to connect to the host computer won't recognise a connection. any suggestions on settings that I should have?
